Jay was born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Joaquin Valley town of Sanger, before graduating high school in Unionville, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Westmont College (BA, Communication Studies) and Fuller Theological Seminary (MA, Theology; MA Psychology; PhD Clinical Psychology). Jay is also Psychology Department chair at Fresno Pacific University, where he has taught since 2005. Jay is married, has four children, and is an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Fresno, where he is an ordained elder. Clinically, Jay is a generalist, seeing clients from many walks of life and who present with a variety of challenges and problems; however, he feels especially called to serve those who work in church, ministerial, and organizational settings. He takes a developmental approach when working with clients, encouraging them to move beyond symptom relief and into a more fulfilled lifestyle associated with grace, gratitude, and fulfillment.
